Porsche GT2 RS

Porsche GT2 RS

Start of a new month, and news of yet another new Porsche – and this one is the most powerful Porsche road car ever.  Please step forward the new GT2 RS.
If numbers are your thing, then take a moment to add these up – 620hp, 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds, 0-124mph in 9.8 seconds, and 0-186mph in 28.9 seconds. Pretty impressive sums I think you’ll agree?
Lightweight features developed for the car include use of lighter aluminium transverse arms and diagonal struts in the rear suspension, carbon fibre reinforced front lid and rear spoiler, polycarbonate rear window and side windows, lightweight engine cover, lighter single-mass flywheel, and a lighter lithium-ion battery. Other ‘dynamic enhancements’ are said to include metal support bearings complete with ball joints in the front suspension, lightweight door panels, and a wider front track with wider tyres that are the same dimension as GT3 RS.
As far as styling goes, the new 911 GT2 RS stands out from the 911 GT2 through the use of carbon-fibre-reinforced (CFR) components in distinctive matt-black finish. At the front, the new, wider 911 GT2-style light-alloy wheels with centre locking are shrouded by flared wheel arches. There are ‘GT2 RS’ badges on the doors and rear engine cover, while the upgraded front spoiler lip and the rear spoiler lip also have a carbon finish. The rear spoiler lip is raised 10 millimetres for extra downforce.
The new GT2 RS will be limited to just 500 units worldwide, and will be available in the UK from September when it will cost a £164,107.00.

Audi R8 GT

Audi R8 GT

The Audi R8 GT – Extreme lightweight construction and tremendous performance. With the GT3 RS, LP570-4 Superleggera and the 458 Scuderia available (soon), we shouldn’t be surprised to see a light-weight special Audi announced – but we didn’t see this coming.

Now even more powerful, lighter and faster, Audi introduces a limited-production version of it R8 sports car, the R8 GT. The output of its 5.2-litre V10 has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp) and vehicle weight has been reduced by around 100 kilograms (220.46 lb). The R8 GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (198.84 mph). Now that’s rapid.

A race package is also available for racing enthusiasts. It includes a bolt-in roll bar in red or black, which has both road and type approval, as well as road-approved four-point belts in red or black, a fire extinguisher and a kill switch for the battery. An optional front bar module for motorsports evens includes a rotary lock for the four-point seatbelt and turns the roll bar into a full cage.

Want one? I thought so. Well done Audi.
