Pagani HQ in Italy

2010 is shaping up to be quite a year. With new supercars from Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren all due, it has been announced that Pagani are retiring the wonderful Zonda to make way for their all-new car – codenamed the C9.

The C9 will use the AMG 6.0 litre V12 says CEO, Horatio Pagani, putting out at around 700bhp and 750lb ft of torque.

‘It will be far more updated than the Zonda’, says Pagani. He promises a ‘brand new car from concept, weight distribution, materials and dynamics’, adding that it will have 3,770 new parts. The chassis will be constructed of carbon titanium with bespoke Pirelli tyres. Given the specifics of the press release, it sounds as though this car is already quite  a way through the development stage.

And what of the expected price point? Well, it’ll be cheaper than the One-77 and Veyron. But, you would be able to buy a Merc SLS, McLaren MP4 12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Aston Martin V12 Vantage and a Lamborghini LP550-2 Balboni for about the same amount. It is expected to retail around the £800k+ mark depending on spec. That’s a lot of money, but you just know it’s going to be brilliant…

Mark Hamilton Peters, Director of New Driver Orientation for the 2009 Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races

The Monterey Historic Races have been around since 1974, but over those years it has had only a handful of sponsors - Chrysler, Toyota and more recently, Rolex. But a re-alignment of the Rolex deal this year has led to a new name for the event: the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

The Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will run this year from August 12-15, alongside the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Over 400 cars will compete across 14 historic race groups, with featured groups this year being Formula 1, Trans-Am, and stock cars. Also at the event will be a Bugatti Grand Prix, hosted by the Bugatti Club of America, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driving shoes

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driving shoes

Post-Christmas is a funny period for automotive news – very little seems to happen until the Geneva Motor Show. However, as you can see from most of our recent news, the 3rd-Party associations are coming in thick and fast. Today sees the announcement that Italian shoemakers, Santoni, have designed a range of driving shoes for the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Santoni already make a line of shoes inspired by the Mercedes-Benz AMG range with a sole ’specifically designed to offer the most grip on AMG brake and accelerator pedals’ – yeah, sure. The shoes are said to be ‘inspired by the design of the SLS AMG interior’ and are made with leather and alcantara like the interior of the SLS AMG. Delete all the PR-speak out of their announcement, and you’re actually left with quite a nice looking shoe that I’m sure works very well pedalling your SLS, SLR or even SLK…

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG driving shoes by Santoni are available from large Mercedes-Benz dealerships and certain stores selling Santoni shoes.
