Pagani HQ in Italy
2010 is shaping up to be quite a year. With new supercars from Ferrari, Aston Martin and McLaren all due, it has been announced that Pagani are retiring the wonderful Zonda to make way for their all-new car – codenamed the C9.
The C9 will use the AMG 6.0 litre V12 says CEO, Horatio Pagani, putting out at around 700bhp and 750lb ft of torque.
‘It will be far more updated than the Zonda’, says Pagani. He promises a ‘brand new car from concept, weight distribution, materials and dynamics’, adding that it will have 3,770 new parts. The chassis will be constructed of carbon titanium with bespoke Pirelli tyres. Given the specifics of the press release, it sounds as though this car is already quite a way through the development stage.
And what of the expected price point? Well, it’ll be cheaper than the One-77 and Veyron. But, you would be able to buy a Merc SLS, McLaren MP4 12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Aston Martin V12 Vantage and a Lamborghini LP550-2 Balboni for about the same amount. It is expected to retail around the £800k+ mark depending on spec. That’s a lot of money, but you just know it’s going to be brilliant…
