Fire and Ice...
This land of boiling mud pools, spurting geysers, glaciers and waterfalls is an adventure playground. Our trip will include its breathtaking landscapes, hip Reykjavík and the beautiful therapeutic Blue Lagoon. You can be assured of the warmth of the Icelanders’ welcome and their desire to share their culture and make every effort to ensure that your stay is a pleasant one.
For two days you will be driving on adventurous trails in modified 4x4 vehicles - especially designed for the demanding terrain. We will discover glaciers, deserts, lava fields and also some of the other main attractions in Iceland - the highland valley of Þórsmörk and the Golden Circle.
Starting in Reykjavik, our first stop is the lava caves in the Blue Mountains, there we will walk through the ancient lava field and learn how Iceland was formed and continues to take shape before our very eyes. Next is the legendary valley of the Thundergod, Þórsmörk! The trail is one of Iceland most famous off road tracks where we will drive over several rivers, and even cross a glacier lagoon. We will have lunch at the Seljalandsfoss, a 60 meter high waterfall that you can walk behind!
We will finish the day with an Icelandic lamb BBQ dinner in the quiet highland setting of Þórsmörk valley. Þórsmörk is framed by high mountains and three glaciers which tower above and guard the valley - this is one of the most impressive places you will ever visit.
Our second day of adventures includes the Skógar Waterfall followed by an adventurous off road trip on the black sand beach endlessly pounded by the North Atlantic Ocean. From the beaches we head to the Sólheimajökull glacier where we will go for a glacier walk on the blue ice, and if you're brave enough you can try your luck with ice climbing up a glacier wall. We should be back in Reykjavík in the late evening.
After heading back to Reykjavík we will have a day to spend at leisure, giving you the chance to visit the Blue Lagoon or enjoy the cosmopolitan city's many fine restaurants, exclusive shops and designer outlets. It also has a reputation of being one of Europe’s "hottest" cities at night, with an active music scene and famous nightlife.
