This is our final trip of the year, and we’ve saved our most exotic until last – it’s certainly the most expensive! When it’s wet and gloomy outside, we’ll be packing up and jumping on a plane and heading for the glamorous location of Dubai…
The Emirate of Dubai on the Persian Gulf is known for its successful blend of traditional and modern life, spectacular construction projects and, above all, its fascinating endless desert. Literally translated, Dubai means ‘meeting place’ and we therefore felt it was a fitting location for an adventurous desert tour amidst steep sand dunes.
We’ve teamed up with Porsche again to create a bespoke tour that will get you behind the wheel of the only performance 4x4 in our eyes – the Porsche Cayenne.
The official Porsche instructors will take you safely over a number of challenging obstacles including a slanting section, a 3-metre high embankment featuring ascents and descents with a gradient of up to 20º, and a 50 cm deep water ditch. There’s also plenty of opportunity to explore this desert paradise at your leisure when you are not behind the wheel. Your well-earned rest each evening will be taken in the beautiful 5-Star Bab Al Shams Hotel, which is widely regarded as one of the finest hotels in the Middle East.
This is a one-off tour that probably won’t be repeated next year, so make sure you book in plenty of time as we only have 24 places available for this one.
Event Itinerary
Day 1
Individual travel to Dubai International Airport, where you will be greeted by the Porsche Travel Club team and transferred to the Bab Al Shams Hotel. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2
Top-class breakfast at the hotel, after which you take to the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne for the drive to the Desert Camp. After a brief introduction, you will then put the Cayenne through its paces on a number of different driving sections under the guidance of Porsche instructors. Later in the afternoon, set off through the dunes and back to the Bab Al Shams Hotel where you can relax over dinner in preparation for the following day.
Day 3
Today’s adventure begins with driver training in the impressive dunes. Stop for lunch in the desert before continuing on to the Sunset Bar in the afternoon, where you can sip champagne while watching the sun setting over the dunes and a falconry display. Afterwards, you make your way by camel to a typical Arabian Bedouin tent for a traditional-style evening with dinner. Travel to the Bab Al Shams Hotel with your instructor.
Day 4
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before heading for Al Shwaib where the adventure continues over sand dunes, through dry riverbeds and fascinating mountains. Enjoy lunch in the desert, before returning to the hotel in the late afternoon. Over a farewell dinner in the evening, you have the chance to review the experiences of the past few days.
Day 5
Our team will take you back to Dubai International Airport.
